Teenage Party expert, Naomi Oakley, says that escalating violence at teenage and young adult parties is largely due to:

• a lack of awareness in the do’s and don’ts in planning a party;
• parents and guardians not understanding the realities of parties and not sufficiently taking charge or being prepared;
• teenagers failing to appreciate the dangers arising from often well intentioned but misguided party aspirations;
• a lack of appreciation of the dangers of a herd mentality;
• a lack of respect for people and property; and generally
